David CortopassiDavid Cortopassi began his musical career at the age of 5, performing on USO tours with his brother and sister. The 1960s/70s heard him play in bands such as This Side Up, The Elastik Band, Dangerfield, MAX and RODAN, whose records are now sought-after collectables.

Always exploring different styles, David has released several CDs in recent years, covering genres from smooth jazz to instrumental.

Most recently David has been focusing on reissuing classic material on his Digital Cellars label.

The Elastik BandThe Elastik Band, notorious for their 1967 cult favorite “Spazz”, played a wide variety of styles from garage to sunshine pop. Originally called “This Side Up”, they released a first single on Century before changing their name to the Elastik Band.

The Elastik Band recorded two albums worth of material, most of which is unreleased. Now, for the first time ever, the complete catalog of the Elastik Band will be issued on one CD, available only from Digital Cellars. Release is scheduled for February 6th, 2007.

The Elastik Band eventually changed their name to Dangerfield, and another album worth of material was recorded. One particularly fun song entitled “At Your Best”, might give Spazz a heart attack. Expect a Dangerfield release from Digital Cellars in the future.

MAXMAX (a.k.a. RODAN) was a high-energy rock/jazz/funk fusion outfit active during the early/mid-1970s.

The band gigged extensively throughout California, and toured with bands such as Tower of Power and MALO.

MAX had label interest, although a deal never panned out. Shortly before disbanding in 1974, they released an album under the name “RODAN” on the private label Pandora. Limited to a couple hundred copies, this underground collectable has fetched several hundred dollars amongst avid horn-rock fans.

Expect a future Digital Cellars reissue of the “RODAN” album along with plenty of unreleased MAX material.
